Paul Welsh - Front End Developer & Digital Designer

My name is Paul Welsh, I am a Front End Developer and Digital Designer currently living in Stockport, Cheshire. At the moment I practice my trade at Manchester and New York based agency Building Blocks. I like to think I design and develop captivating, intelligent and effective websites that people enjoy using.

I have been working in the industry for around seven years and in that time I have tried my hand at most aspects of design and development. It was around 2006 that I became interested in designing with web standards, previously I had worked mostly with Flash. But working for clients such as RNCM opened me up to a whole new world of design, focusing on content and CSS layout. Since then HTML, CSS and jQuery have been the major weapons in my arsenal.

So I found my calling as a Front End Developer but I still consider myself a Designer. Though most of my craft these days revolves around my ability to code, my design skills are called upon on a regular basis. I also dabble in server side coding, mostly working with CMS' such as Wordpress, Joomla and Umbraco. My skills are quite suited to developing for Content Management Systems, I like to see the bigger picture when building prototypes and templates rather than just what is in front of me.

I feel lucky that my work allows me to surround myself with creative, intelligent and hard working individuals. Over the last seven years I have had the pleasure of working with some great brands and some wonderful people that include: Lloyd's Register, Butlins, Ricoh, BT, RNCM, Air1 (YARA), RSPB, Liverpool Hope University, Warner Leisure, Regus, Royal Caribbean International, The Premex Group, Bermans Specialist Lawyers, The Park Leisure Centre, Chetham's School of Music, Murrays Pharmacy, BDA.
